Short professional biography

Dusan Ristic was born in 1990, in Prokuplje, where he finished elementary school and gymnasium. In 2009 he enrolled at Spatial Planning studies at Faculty of Geography, University of Belgrade. He obtained a master’s degree in Spatial Planning in 2014. In the same year, he began his doctoral studies. The PhD thesis under the title “Infrastructure development planning in Serbian rural area” he officially defined in 2020. During his studies, winner of the “Student of Generation” award in the study program Spatial Planning; awards for the best master's thesis in the field of spatial planning “Dimitrije Perisic”, from Institute of Architecture and Urbanism of Serbia; also, he was holder of “Dositeja” scholarship and plaque from the Foundation for Young Talents.

As of 2018, he has been employed at the Faculty of Sciences and Mathematics in Kosovska Mitrovica, as a Teaching Assistant for Spatial Planning. In 2017/2018, worked as a student demonstrator at the Faculty of Geography in Belgrade, Department of Spatial Planning (under a scholarship of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological development, on the project OI 176017). He authored and co-authored over 40 scientific works in the publications of international and national importance, out of which 7 were published in the journals on the SCI list, 3 chapters were published in international monographs. It has been cited more than 40 times. Participated in international and national scientific gatherings and conferences (19 in total). Held 2 invited lectures at "Urbanism summer school”, nationally significant scientific-professional conference. Reviewer in international journals from SCI list in the categories M21 (Current Issues in Tourism), M22 (Environment, Development and Sustainability), M23 (Polish Journal of Environment Studies). Moderator of the panel in scientific conference of international importance, and editor of an electronic collection of papers. Member of the editorial board and technical editor of a monograph. He is a member of the Serbian Spatial Planners Association, Serbian Geographical Society, Serbian Town Planners Association.

Since 2015, he has been engaged in production of planning documentation at spatial planning company “Urbopolis” ltd., as an associate. He participated in making one spatial plan, 23 urban plans and several urban elaborations, projects and studies.
